SIH Brain & Spine Institute offers monthly educational and social events for stroke survivors, caregivers and family members. Our Stroke Survivor Series addresses many topics that survivors and family members find challenging after suffering a stroke.

The following topics are taught by healthcare professionals in a casual environment with group participation and time for discussion. Stroke Survivor Series is hosted at SIH Herrin Hospital and topics continue to roll every six months, so you can join at any time.

Here’s a sample of what we discuss:

  • Community resources
  • Managing daily activities
  • Advanced directives
  • Handling medications
  • Risk reduction
  • Coping with a “new normal”
  • Healthy cooking and grocery shopping techniques

Stroke Survivor Series Sessions are held on the 1st Monday of the month from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the Herrin Hospital in conference rooms B/C. Sessions that fall on a major holiday will be moved to the 2nd Monday of the month.
